Poetry session: A report (April 26th)

On April 26th, we had a get together to appreciate and enjoy Hindi literature।

• - Farha read an article after having read this article। Her article had a different perspective. She made a point through incidents in her own life that culture can survive and thrive, if there is a conscious effort. Farha also presented beautiful shers from the works of Bashir Badr
• - Rukmini recited few of her heartfelt ghazals। And one by Bharat व्यास
• - Sanjeev read his poems of angst and love and then played the songs that he has composed ।
• - Anju read her touching poem inspired by an hourglass। (Actually, minuteglass)
  - Aniruddh read his brother Sandip Gupte’s excellent ghazals।
• - Rita recited a beautiful nazm “Qaidi #786” from Veer-जारा
• - Manju read Kaka Hathrasi’s hilarious poetry and Shail Chaturvedi’s “Aa।nkh chal gayii”
• - I read following poems
  मुक़द्दर
  सृष्टि का निर्माण
  मैं घर जाने लगा हूँ
  ओझल
  सच
  मरते दम तक
  मिलने की अभिलाषा
  Q.E.D.
  - Program ended with Gulzar’s 10 Nazme from Dus Kahaaniyaa – rendered by Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Dia Mirza, Sanjay Dutt, Amrita Singh, Anupam Kher, Sudhanshu Pande, Neha Dhupia and Manoj Bajpai। (via CD)

Next session is on May 24th and I expect the same local artists (Aniruddh, Sanjeev, Rukmini, Farha, Anju, Bhashinee) to attend, in addition to other local talent such as Chandana Dixit, Vikas Gupta, Santosh Pal, Abhinav, Shivam, Govind, Jay, Soumya, Subhash and Pushpa Saxena।
